Could smoking pot cause testicular cancer?

Scientists say that men who frequently smoke pot have a higher risk of developing testicular cancer. This research is still being studied but is said to have double the risk of the disease then those men who do not smoke. A man has a chance of about one in three hundred of getting this cancer but as I stated before, that probability is doubled with smoking. The scientists interviewed 369 men with cancer and 979 men without cancer. According to the information from the survey 26 percent of those men were pot smokers. The reason why researchers decided to study marijuana as a possible cause of testicular cancer is because it causes problems with sperm formation and fertility. Pot is said to have 2.3 times the risk of nonseminoma cancer than seminoma cancer. These cancers are divided under the category of testicular cancer. Seminoma has 60% of the population with it while nonseminoma has 40% which means that the link is weaker in those with seminomas. The scientists plan on collecting tumor tissues and studying them for marijuana receptors and then research how they are related to tumor development. Doctors say that they would rather keep treating their patients with medical marijuana and keep them alive even though this could mean the risk of getting testicular cancer. This could end up being another huge debate over now keeping pot legal or not. I think if there is a chance of getting testicular cancer from it then it probably isn't as good of a choice as people thought it was.
